Amazon is planning a second warehouse facility in Woodbury .

The Woodbury City Council approved plans for a 225,550-square-foot distribution center with a 4–1 vote on Wednesday. The e-shopping giant's first Woodbury facility, a 520,000-square-foot sorting center, opened two years ago.

The new operation at the corner of Hudson Rd. and Settlers Ridge Pkwy. plans to employ around 300 and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week with expectations that it will have 21 semi-trucks delivering to the warehouse daily between midnight and 7 a.m.

Amazon's new space, developed by Ryan Cos., is considered a "last-mile facility," a last stop before packages hit doorsteps. It expects to have around 450 vans making deliveries from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily with an average of 70 taking off every 20 minutes.

When the first Amazon warehouse opened, the city made improvements along Hudson Rd. Due to a second warehouse adding a lot of traffic, the City Council agreed to have the company pay for a new stop light at the intersection of Hudson Rd. and Lake View Dr.
