Driver arrested in Coon Rapids after striking SUV, killing passenger

A woman was arrested after striking an SUV with her pickup truck on Sunday, killing one person and injuring another.

The Coon Rapids Police Department responded to the scene around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a crash at the intersection of Coon Rapids Boulevard NW and Springbrook Drive NW.

An SUV driven by a man with a female passenger was traveling east on Coon Rapids Boulevard NW when it was trying to make a left turn north onto Springbrook Drive. However, they were struck by a pickup truck hauling a trailer that was going west on Coon Rapids Boulevard NW.

Paramedics gave lifesaving measures to the woman at the scene, and she was taken to the local hospital, where she later died. Responders also took the man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman driving the pickup truck was uninjured and taken into custody at the scene, but police have not released details of why she has been arrested.
