Two men have been charged with shooting and robbing a man in Minneapolis who had just won $1,000 playing pull tabs at a bar last Tuesday.

Anthony Clifford Ferrara, 35, and Charles Jesse Schroedl, 38, have been charged with 1st-degree assault and aggravated robbery after attacking a man shortly after he had left the Vegas Lounge bar on 965 Central Avenue.

The victim had gone to the bar with a friend, and according to the criminal complaint, Ferrara and Schroedl asked the victim which pull tab box he was playing and if he was winning. After the victim refused to tell them which box he was playing, the two men became upset. A little while later, the victim won $1,000 on pull tabs.

A few minutes later, the victim left the bar alone to meet his friend at a park near 15th Avenue NE and Monroe Street NE. While the victim exited his car, a small, dark SUV with pink writing on the rear pulled up, with Ferrara and Schroedl allegedly getting out.

Schroedl demanded that the man “give [him] that bag," while Ferrara pointed a handgun at him. Ferrara then allegedly shot him while he was trying to take off his cross-body bag.

An off-duty paramedic was nearby and heard the gunshots. He ran over to help and saw the victim had been shot four times in the left leg, twice in the right leg, and twice in the abdomen.

Responders provided aid until a Hennepin County Medical Center ambulance crew arrived and took him to the hospital. Witnesses saw the two men enter the dark SUV, going south on Monroe Street with Schroedl as the driver.

Officers found five discharged 9mm cartridge casings at the intersection of 15th Avenue and Monroe Street.

Police found Ferrara on August 16 sleeping in a car in an alleyway near Minnehaha Avenue and Snelling Avenue. Police arrested him and found a handgun in between the driver’s seat and the center console. They also found an AR-style pistol in the rear cargo area.

While being taken to jail, Ferrara claimed he had ingested fentanyl and was taken to HCMC to be cleared before being booked into jail. Ferrara had an outstanding felony warrant for being a felon possessing a Firearm.

Ferarra's bail has been set at $150,000. Police are still looking for Schroedl, who has an active nationwide arrest warrant.
