Metallica makes big donation to local charity after Minneapolis stadium shows

Metallica promised a three-day takeover of the Twin Cities.

It seemed like a stretch to think the legendary group's presence would be felt for so many days with other massive concerts taking place on the cusp of the Minnesota State Fair . Still, they delivered with a pair of concerts at U.S. Bank Stadium , a slate of Saturday "takeover" events between shows, a Pantera underplay at First Avenue on Thursday, and, now, a big donation to a local organization.

People Serving People , an organization that supports unhoused individuals and families, announced on Monday that it had received a $40,000 donation from the band's All Within My Hands foundation .

"Wow! Talk about give me fuel, give me fire," PSP wrote on social media. "Gifts like this make programs like financial literacy, emergency assistance, and high-quality childcare possible at People Serving People. Thank you, Metallica, for fueling our work, firing up our community, and helping the families at our shelter achieve their desires!"

The band's M72 World Tour is donating a portion of proceeds from every ticket to its All Within My Hands foundation, which aims to "assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band."

The organization told KARE 11 that donations of this size aren't rare, but are uncommon, particularly from a group outside the community. "Clearly they did some research and thought, 'This organization is doing some really exciting stuff,'" People Serving People's Amanda Finman-Palmer told the TV station.

The organization will use the funding for specific programs mentioned in the post, as well as its Savings Match Program.
