Minnesota State Fair sets attendance record for Opening Day

The 2024 Minnesota State Fair is shaping up to be one of the best attended on record, if Opening Day is anything to go by.

The Minnesota State Fair has announced that 138,875 visitors passed through its gates, an all-time record for the opening Thursday, beating the 133,326 on Opening Day of the 2019 State Fair.

2019 ultimately became the most-attended fair on record, with 2,126,551 attending over the 12-day event.

Attendance figures for the rest of the fair could be dependent on the weather, with Sunday and Monday shaping up to be hot, steamy days with the heat index potentially hitting 100F.

After then, though, highs will be in the low 80s and then the high 70s for much of the rest of the fair.

If you're heading to the fair this weekend, a forecast high of 85 on Saturday will be somewhat more bearable than Sunday.
