Last month, Alix Kendall announced she would retire , leaving FOX 9 Morning News after 25 years.

The long-time host's farewell arrived on Friday, Sept. 6. The station sent her off in style with a segment that began with her memorable (and difficult) Vespa ride that has been played repeatedly since the incident years ago.

"Don't you love when we bring this up all the time?" Kendall was asked, finding herself on the other end of an interview for her final day.

"It never gets old," she said with a laugh. The whole team at FOX 9 came out to the studio's parking lot for the segment. "I'm feeling emotional, of course. This is weird and wonderful. I have no words."

To bid her farewell, the station brought out another Vespa so Kendall could ride off into the sunset in style. Though, this time, she had a driver escorting her away.

Kendall had been with FOX 9 Morning News since it launched as Good Day Minnesota in 1999.  Prior to that, she was a disc jockey for multiple stations, including 93.7 KLXK-FM.

Now, Kendall plans to focus on screenwriting.

"This has been my side hustle for nearly a decade now, and I absolutely love it and the time is right and I'm going all in," she said when announcing her retirement in August. She later told the Star Tribune that she's been working on a screenplay for nearly a decade and hopes this will be the catalyst that helps her finish it and get the movie made.
