With summer increasingly in the rear-mirror, Target has announced plans for the holiday shopping season.

The Minneapolis retailer is pushing back its "Target Circle Week," which this year will take place between Oct. 6-12 – a week later than last year. The discount event for Circle members will be a week-long, after initially starting as a two-day event.

The "Deal of the Day" program is also back, with new one-day-only deals available each day of "Target Circle Week." It will also return for Target Circle members from Nov. 1 through the rest of the holiday season.

Target will offer its "biggest holiday assortment ever," saying it will have 50% more "new items" than last year, holiday toys under $20, and stocking stuffers under $5.

The retailer says "over half" of its own-brand seasonal food and drink will cost less than $5, including its gingerbread houses, while 80% of its "Wondershop" holiday selection will cost $10 or less.

Thousands of new items will be hitting shelves, including toys from Disney , LEGO , and FAO Schwarz that will only be found at Target. The retailer is also promising exclusive cosmetics lines from brands like Papatui, Being Frenshe, and Fine'ry.

The retail announced it would be the "premier retail destination" for products inspired by Universal Pictures' upcoming musical Wicked , offering consumers a range of Wicked -themed merchandise and experiences , from exclusive products to in-store activations.

Target's partnership with British retailer Marks & Spencer will also return. The two will introduce new food and beverage items and gift items like London-themed ornaments and mugs, all under $20.

Nearly 200 stores will introduce new "Bullseye shop" sections , offering festive Target-themed holiday gifts, most under $25. This includes Target-branded items online, such as a new ornament set, Target toy check lane, giant Bullseye dog plush and other Bullseye toys, and Target-themed items from Polly Pocket, Funko, Barbie, Pez, and more.

Target previously announced price reductions on 5,000 frequently purchased items in many markets to help shoppers stock up for the season.

Plans to hire 100,000 seasonal workers

In addition to its holiday deals, Target announced it plans to hire around 100,000 additional seasonal team members across stores and supply chain facilities.

This is consistent with seasonal hiring levels in recent years. The company says that more than half of last year's seasonal team members were offered a position to stay with Target.

Beginning Sept. 25, interested candidates can visit the retailer's career page to apply for seasonal positions.

Target will be offering free 2-day shipping on online orders of $35 or more.
