The fall festival season in the Twin Cities is getting packed. Cine Latino , the Arab Film Festival , and Sound Unseen are all on the schedule, as is the 15th annual Twin Cities Film Fest (TCFF), which just unveiled details for its 2024 event.

TCFF runs from Oct. 17–26 and plans to showcase more than 140 films in area theaters, with more than 70 of the films streaming online through its TCFF STREAMS platform as well.

In addition to hosting in-person events at The Shops at West End, the festival has entered a partnership with the Marcus West End Cinema, putting nearly 90 programs around its St. Louis Park headquarters.

This year, the festival will have a record number of Minnesota films, with TCFF saying that around 40% of the films were either shot in Minnesota or feature in-state talent behind or in front of the camera.

“From the very first year of this festival, our focus has been on showcasing, celebrating, and elevating local talent,” TCFF Executive Director Jatin Setia says. “For the 15th anniversary, our programming team cast the widest net in our history, seeking out the Minnesota productions, stories, actors, and producers who are reshaping the movie industry. I couldn’t be prouder of the program they’ve come back with, and I can’t wait to experience these films alongside local audiences.”

TCFF will also have appearances from actors and filmmakers when it opens on Oct. 17 with Focus Features' thriller Conclave , starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and John Lithgow.

The festival's "centerpiece" film will be Magpie, which screens on Oct. 21. Actress and producer Daisy Ridley, best known for her leading role in the most recent Star Wars trilogy, will appear at the fest with producer and write Tom Bateman to accept the TCFF Indie Vision Award.

Actor and NorthStar Award Honoree Josh Duhamel will appear at the festival for one of its "in conversation" talks on Oct. 24.

The festival will also spotlight Mystery Science Theater 3000 creator Joel Hodgson during an event on Oct. 19 where he presents A Thousand Clowns . Hodgson, who was born in Wisconsin but lived in Minnesota, has called the movie "one of my favorites," adding, "I think I saw it when I was in fourth grade, and it was just so witty and brilliant, and I just love it and I still love it."

The closing night celebration will center around the Minnesota-connected film Days When the Rain Came . It's a film about an actress whose career is at a standstill as she struggles with the monotony of daily life with her family. She returns to her hometown to help care for a family, getting drawn into a heap of family drama. Writer and actress, as well as Minnesota native, Marisa Coughlan will be part of a post-screening discussion with actors Beau Bridges and Eliza Coupe.

Other films screening include Steve McQueen's Blitz (Oct. 26), Jesse Eisenberg's A Real Pain starring Kieran Culkin (Oct. 22), A24's On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (Oct. 23), Nightbitch (Oct. 18), Unstoppable (Oct. 19), and Don't Move (Oct. 25).

Tickets for TCFF screenings range from $10 online to $13 at the door. Special events are $25 and a handful of matinee and select non-matinee screenings will be free. A streaming pass to the festival costs $60, with a variety of tiers ranging from $55–$125.
