    Fleeing suspect rescued from Rum River after crashing during pursuit

    A police pursuit of a driver in Anoka on Monday ended with the man crashing and needing to be rescued from the Rum River.

    An Anoka police officer was trying to stop a car around 3:49 p.m. when it fled from police and crashed near the 3200 block of Saint Francis Blvd.

    The man continued to run from police on foot but was later found by officers in the Rum River. Emergency responders arrived and were able to rescue him from the water, performing life-saving measures at the scene.

    He was taken to a local hospital, where his condition is currently unknown at this time.
