The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced on Friday a settlement with a Minnesota-based Aquarium company to stop the sale of unregistered pesticide products.

Underwater Creations Inc. of St. Louis Park, was formed in 2006 and sells custom aquariums to create "truly stunning pieces of living art in people's homes and business." It also advertise both freshwater and saltwater aquarium maintenance services for residential and commercial buildings.

EPA cited Underwater Creations for allegedly distributing or selling five unregistered pesticides on its website: Vibrant Reef , Vibrant Saltwater, Vibrant Freshwater, Expel , and Purge .

These products are intended to destroy aquarium pests, but under federal rules products that claim to kill pests are considered pesticides and must be registered with the EPA to ensure they perform as intended and are appropriately labeled.

The settlement requires the company to stop production and pay a $226,652 penalty.

Bring Me The News reached out to Underwater Creations for comment, but have not heard back at this time.
