Story Line Books, a new bookstore in St. Paul's Union Depot , opened Saturday morning.

The bookstore, taking up residence in Union Depot's final open retail space, welcomed book lovers to the train and bus depot with a grand opening that began at 8 a.m. on Sept. 28.

The space is owned by Danielle Miller, who left behind a career in law to bring together her love of trains and books at a shop whose name is a play on those dual interests.

"Old train-related places are heaven," Miller says. "When I started making the move to Minnesota, I began dreaming of a store in St. Paul because it's such a reader town. The first available spot for lease I found was this location. It felt like the universe was telling me to go for it. It's the right size, the right vibe and the right people. The management at Union Depot has been incredible to work with so far, and I feel like I'm joining a team, not voyaging into the great unknown all by myself."

It joins the 1811 by Lake Elmo Inn , a restaurant from the proprietors of the Lake Elmo Inn, as the newest tenant in the building.

Story Line Books is open Wednesday through Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the main floor of the Head House.
