Riverview Theater brings back its 'Lord of the Rings' marathon

"Gandalf, my old friend, this will be a night to remember."

That's because the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis is breaking out the pipe weed and sense of adventure for the 15th installment of its Lord of the Rings marathon .

On January 25, 2025, the theater will present all three of Peter Jackson's beloved fantasy films — no Hobbit movies — back to back to back.

Is it too much Lord of the Rings or just the right amount? Either way it's a full day event starting with Fellowship of the Ring at 10:45 a.m. and concluding late in the evening with plans to start Return of the King at 7 p.m.

This year's installment will include a costume contest, and the Riverview will serve pizza between films in addition to the usual popcorn, nachos, pretzels, soda, and coffee. Though, it requests you order pizza when purchasing tickets.

The full day costs $15 in advance or $20 at the door, if seats are available.
