Schedule, networks set for WNBA Finals between Lynx and Liberty

The Minnesota Lynx are three games away from their fifth championship.

The Lynx beat the Connecticut Sun 88-77 in Game 5 of their semifinal series Tuesday at Target Center in Minneapolis to reach the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2017.

The title quest now continues against the top-seeded New York Liberty. The Lynx went 3-1 against the Liberty in the regular season. The last two matchups — both Lynx victories — were won by single-digit margins. It has the makings of a great series.

The Liberty have never won the WNBA Finals, while the Lynx have four titles — tied with the Houston Comets and Seattle Storm for the most by any franchise. They'll be looking to become the first team to win its fifth against a tough New York team.

As the top seed, the Liberty have home-court advantage and will host Game 1 Thursday night as well as Game 2 on Sunday. Game 3 on Oct. 16 will take place at Target Center as will Game 4 on Oct. 18, if it's necessary. If the series makes it to a decisive Game 5, that will take place in New York on Oct. 20.
