'High-tech' mini golf bar Puttshack opens in Edina on Wednesday

Minnesota is getting a heavy dose of mini golf.

Puttshack, the mini golf concept from the owners of Topgolf , opens its first Minnesota location in Edina on Wednesday, Oct. 9. at the Southdale Center .

Puttshack bills itself as an "upscale, tech-infused" experience. Rather than roadside mini golf with turf greens and windmills, it has more of an arcade feel with a bar and restaurant. The Edina location, a 25,000-square-foot, two-level venue, will have two bars with a variety of cocktails, mocktails, and local craft beer.

At Puttshack, there's no tiny pencil and scorecard involved in its multiple nine-hole courses. Scores are tracked through the balls and there's more to the scores than the number of strokes taken. Points are acquired in a variety of ways on holes that are designed to look like beer pong, roulette, or Skee-Ball.

Not only is Puttshack coming to the suburbs, the company has announced plans to open a Puttshack in Minneapolis' North Loop neighborhood in 2025.

The second location will be a 20,000-square-foot space at 246 7th Avenue N, the company announced in 2023. It currently operates 15 Puttshack locations in the United States, including Edina, with seven more slated to open soon.

The Edina location is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday with hours extended until midnight on Friday and Saturday. It'll be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays, and kids are welcome daily until 8 p.m.
