New details are emerging about the ongoing investigation into the deaths of two Minnesotans at a Brainerd Lakes area vacation home over the weekend.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday identified the deceased as engaged couple Jodi Lysne, 59, and Brett Shelstad, 53, both of Minneapolis.

Crow Wing County Sheriff Eric Klang told the Star Tribune an overdose is suspected in their deaths and, while the agency on Monday called the deaths "suspicious" , there is no threat to the public.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called to a family vacation home on the 11000 block of Shelstad Drive in Pelican Township around 2:40 p.m. Sunday to conduct a welfare check.

Upon arrival, deputies found Lysne dead inside the home.

In a news release, the agency said Shelstad suffered a medical emergency while being escorted outside the home and died despite life-saving efforts.

Autopsy results are pending toxicology tests, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The deaths remain under investigation with the assistance of the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Ya gotta respect someone that can afford a lakeside vacation home AND is an addict. That takes some serious skills. PS: for those that are sarcasm-averse, that’s meant to be humorous.
