While fall blockbusters like Gladiator II, Wicked, and Joker: Folie á Deux begin taking up screens across the country, there is a lot more happening at Twin Cities cinemas.

Among the deluge of repertoire horror screenings and classic films, the Cine Latino Film Festival is taking place this week. Here are the repertory and festivals screenings happening around the Twin Cities this week, starting with a highlight from Cine Latino.

Memories of a Burning Body (2024)/Cine Latino

Saturday, Oct. 12 at The Main Cinema

The Cine Latino Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday, presenting five days of Latin American, US Latinx, and Ibero films. There are a lot of alluring movies in this year's lineup including new work by Oscar-winning director Walter Salles, a screening of Salles' classic Central Station , and a free program of short films for kids at the Minneapolis Institute of Art .

On Saturday, catch the latest film from director and writer Antonella Sudasassi Furniss. Actress Sol Carballo embodies the lived experiences of three women who grew up in a culture of sexual repression. Now older, their real testimonials are reenacted as Carballo portrays their lives and sexuality in an intimate exploration of gender, age, and desire. 115 SE Main St., Minneapolis ($12)

    The Curse of Frankenstein (1957)

Saturday, Oct. 12 at Alamo Drafthouse

Hammer Films regulars Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee star in the underappreciated and strangely beautiful The Curse of Frankenstein , which is surprisingly faithful to the source material. It has all the hallmarks of a great Hammer horror, including stylized sets and great performances. 9060 Hudson Rd., Woodbury ($10)

    Franconia 5-Minute Film Festival

Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Trylon Cinema

For the fourth time, the Franconia Sculpture Park put on a five-minute film festival, inviting filmmakers from Minnesota and Wisconsin to submit short films to be screened at the innovative park in Shafer, Minn.

Lucky Twin Cities residents didn't have to make the trek to the Minnesota/Wisconsin border last week to see the results. (Though, that is a full experience worth your time.) The mini fest is coming to Minneapolis this week. The one-hour fest will make an encore performance at the Trylon with a short Q&A following the films. 2820 E 33rd St., Minneapolis ($15)

    The Wicker Man (1973)

Monday, Oct. 14 at The Heights Theater

While the Nic Cage remake is campy fun, the original with Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee is far more haunting. (And isn't short on camp either). It follows a pious police sergeant who heads to a pagan island to investigate a missing child. He gets caught up in some truly weird stuff that leads up to an iconic finale. 3951 Central Ave. NE, Columbia Heights ($12)

    The Lost Boys (1987)

Sunday, Oct. 13, and Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Emagine Willow Creek , and Monday, Oct. 14 at the Parkway Theater

Mike (Jason Patric) and Sam (Corey Haim) move to a new town and quickly discover a group of young bikers who claim to be vampire hunters. It's a stylish vampire classic with young stars like Kiefer Sutherland and Corey Feldman, making it feel deeply '80s. 9900 Shelard Pkwy., Plymouth ($11) / 4814 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis ($9/$12)
