Dairy Goodness Bar unveils this year's signature 'flavor of the fair'

Fruity rice cereal, strawberries and a bit of nostalgia come together in this year's special malt flavor at the Minnesota State Fair.

The Dairy Goodness Bar, operated by Midwest Dairy, announced Rock Star-Berry will be the 2024 Flavor of the Fair.

The new special flavor beat out two other contenders — Chamango Chill and Boba 'Sota — in online voting held earlier this year.

Rock Star-Berry will be exclusively available during the upcoming fair as either an ice cream sundae or malt, priced at $9.

The cold treat features Minnesota dairy farmers’ secret, State Fair-recipe vanilla ice cream, juicy strawberries and a scoop of nostalgic and colorful fruity rice cereal for the “ultimate blend of smooth and crunchy, sweet and fruity,” Midwest Dairy writes.

Fair-goers visiting the Dairy Goodness Bar will also be invited to suggest flavors for the 2025 Flavor of the Fair before the top three choices are put to a vote next spring.

Last year, the Dairy Goodness Bar sold over 160,250 ice cream treats — including around 79,000 malts — throughout the fair.

In addition to sundaes and malts, the destination sells ice cream cones, yogurt, cheese sticks and milk.

The 2024 Minnesota State Fair runs Aug. 22 through Sept. 2.
