WNBA trade deadline: Lynx acquire Myisha Hines-Allen from Mystics

    By Joe Nelson,

    2024-08-20

Tuesday marks the deadline for trades in the WNBA and the Minnesota Lynx have acquired 6-foot-1 forward Myisha Hines-Allen from the Washington Mystics. Washington is receiving Olivia Epoupa, Sika Kone and a second-round pick in next year's draft from Minnesota.

Kone and Epoupa are averaging 1.2 and 0.9 points, respectively, as seldom-used bench players for the Lynx. Hines-Allen has been a part-time starter for Washington, averaging 8.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 19.1 minutes per game this season.

Her numbers this season aren't too far below her per-minute numbers when she was a full-time starter playing 30 minutes a game with the Mystics in 2020. That season, she averaged 17.0 points and 8.9 rebounds and was named All-WNBA Second Team.

The Mystics announced that Epoupa has already been waived and she is free to sign elsewhere as a free agent.

The Lynx (19-8) are third in the WNBA, just a half-game behind second-place Connecticut (19-7) and four games behind first-place New York (23-4).

Minnesota is in Las Vegas to play the Aces at 8:30 p.m. CT Wednesday. The game will be televised on ESPN.
