Arkansas airports awarded $10.5M in federal grants
BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded nearly $10.5 million in grants for improvements at airports across Arkansas. The largest grant went to Northwest Arkansas National Airport, which received $3.89 million to reconstruct an air traffic control tower. Texarkana Regional Airport and Z.M. Jack Stell Field in Crossett each received grants of more than $1 million.
Walk Across Arkansas kicks off September 9 in Cross County
WYNNE — The Walk Across America campaign will be held in Arkansas in September and that includes Cross County. “We’re not just focusing on walking, any physical activity. So if you’re out in the garden, that counts,” said Mattie Ricker, Family and Consumer Science Agent for the Cross County Extension Office in Wynne. “Cross County has a 73% obesity rate and the State of Arkansas is 71%. I kind of started there and said let’s get under the state percentage because we don’t want to be above it.

Arkansas Collective Proposes Gambling Raffle For NIL Fundraising
While name, image, and likeness (NIL) are still new in the collegiate sports atmosphere, big-time schools are doing what they can to help fund the program. That’s especially true in the South where schools in the SEC are funded by major donors. The University of Arkansas has Arkansas Edge, their NIL collective. Arkansas Edge is seeking permission from the Arkansas Racing Commission (ARC) to amend rules to allow them to have 50/50 raffles. This would be costly to allow Arkansas Edge to operate an online raffle. On top of that, they would be required to partner with and utilize and technology service provider like GeoComply.
