The Brinson City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday afternoon. The main point of focus of the meeting was a discussion about placing a traffic light at the intersection of Highway 310 and Georgia State Route 38, with citizens having raised concerns over numerous traffic accidents that have occurred. During the meeting, the main issue raised with installing a traffic light, according to the council and Mayor James Earp, is that it requires state approval, as it involves a state highway.

Other proposed solutions to the traffic problem that were discussed at the meeting included flashing yield lights, as well as potentially lowering the speed limit.

County Commissioner Pete Stephens was present at the meeting, as was Paul Fryer, field representative of Congressman Sanford Bishop. Mayor Earp told the Post-Searchlight that local, state, federal and DOT officials were planned to meet at next month’s meeting to further discuss the issue.
