State champion Middletown-Odessa-Townsend will attempt to become Delaware’s third Little League World Series qualifier at the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.

Here are details on how to follow MOT’s squad of 11- and 12-year-old players:

When and where do Regionals take place?

Games are at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center in Bristol, Connecticut, from Aug. 4-9. The Metro and New England Regionals will also be taking place there over the same stretch.

    How did MOT get there?

MOT won the District 1 (central Delaware) title and then prevailed in state tournament games over Lewes 5-3 and Naamans 3-0 . It was MOT’s second straight title and the organization’s seventh since state championship competition debuted in 1957.

    Who is joining MOT?

The four-team tournament also includes Maryland champion West Salisbury, Pennsylvania champion Council Rock Newton and Washington, D.C., champion Capitol Hill Little League.

    What’s the schedule?

MOT faces West Salisbury at 10 a.m. Sunday followed by Capitol Hill and Council Rock Newton meeting at 1 p.m.

The losers of those two games play Monday at 5 p.m. and the winners collide Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The winner of Monday’s game then faces the loser of Tuesday’s game on Thursday at 3 p.m.

That sets the stage for Friday’s 3 p.m. championship between the winners of Tuesday’s and Thursday’s games.

    What’s at stake?

The Mid-Atlantic champion advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania , where it will be one of 10 U.S. teams joining 10 other international qualifiers.

What Delaware teams have made Little League World Series?

Two Delaware teams have reached the World Series, both when it was a smaller field and slightly more difficult to qualify.

Suburban Wilmington’s Naamans Little League was the first in 2003, winning District 2 (northern New Castle County) and state titles before beating Collegeville, Pennsylvania, for the Mid-Atlantic title. Naamans won one of three games in Williamsport.

Ten years later, District 2 and state champ Newark National won the Eastern Regional in Bristol over Pennsylvania’s Lionville to advance. Newark National also won one of three games in Williamsport.

Are there other World Series teams from Delaware?

The Piedmont Bulls U12 team is playing in the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth World Series Aug. 7-18 in Branson, Missouri. The Bulls qualified after finishing third in the U11 World Series last year.
