News Channel 11 spoke with Jake Holmes, vice mayor of the City of Bristol, who said the event is a way to show appreciation for first responders.

“It’s just a positive thing to talk about, [a] positive thing to do, a free event for kids and families, and just a way to show our first responders that they are valued part of our community,” Holmes said. “And we appreciate it. Just thank you for what you do. Our city wouldn’t be here without you.”

Holmes gave a special shoutout to Rick Sheets with AMVETS for helping to coordinate and sponsor the event.
