    Bristol, Va.’s Union 41 competing in Duke’s Mayo challenge

    JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Union 41 is putting a spin on a Summer Southern classic, the tomato and mayo sandwich, as part of a regional competition.

    The Bristol, Virginia restaurant is competing in the Duke’s Mayo “Hot Tomato Summer” challenge. Restaurants all across the South are coming up with creative dishes centered around tomatoes and mayo.

    Union 41’s Chef T joined Good Morning Tri-Cities to show off her creation: the “Double ‘D’ Sando,” which consists of Doritos milk bread, Duke’s mayo mixed with Coca-Cola, butter lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, brown sugar bacon and hot garlic crunch.

    Voting for “Hot Tomato Summer” is open now until July 28. Union 41 is competing under the Knoxville category.

    You can try the Double ‘D’ Sando at Union 41 until July 28 as well.
