BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) – Downtown Bristol’s summer concert series, Border Bash, returned for its 24th year on Friday.

The night consisted of live music from familiar favorites and new faces, shopping and a wide variety of food.

This year, Border Bash welcomed AJ Smith and Orbital Planes to the stage.

Orbital Planes kicked off the concert. The band is an indie/alternative band based out of Bristol, VA., and has been together since 2022. The band’s members are singer and songwriter Jenna Greene, founder and bass player Jacob Bordwine, and founder and drummer Neal Reid. The band also welcomed Ashton Davison and Ashton Brown.

AJ Smith took the stage for the remainder of the concert. Smith has performed on The Kelley Clarkson Show, been featured as a top independent artist to watch in Music Connection, and gathered millions of streams on Spotify, Apple Music and more. His next album is set to be released this year.

“Border Bash is a tradition that showcases everything that makes Downtown Bristol special, and that includes great live music,” said Maggie Elliott, executive director of Believe in Bristol.
