Town of Essex Selectboard discusses new restaurant, pedestrian crossing
ESSEX TOWN — Ideas for a new pedestrian crossing, a potential tree nursery and a new restaurant came up at the July 15 Town of Essex Selectboard meeting. Along with selecting partner CRO Planning & Design for their Keystone Trail Connectivity Project, the selectboard turned to other matters for updating the Town.
Robber Robber – How We Ball
Today, Burlington-based band Robber Robber announce a US tour and share “How We Ball,” the final single from their debut album, Wild Guess, out this Friday, July 26th. With energetic, motorik drums and a decadent double-guitar lead, “How We Ball” is a bratty post-punk song that’s amped up from beginning to end. Wind-up dolls, ballerinas and soldiers at an abandoned toy shop came to life in Waterbury recently in “The Imaginarium,” the latest show by Circus Smirkus at Farr’s Field. About 4,000 people came to enjoy the youth-powered circus troupe across a three-night run starting July 2, its second-ever time in town. Almost all six shows sold out, and venue owner John Farr already plans to host the circus again in 2025.

A road rage incident in South Hero, Vermont, led to a 75-year-old man being cited for assaulting a 20-year-old, according to reports from authorities. Vermont State Police responded to a call at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, with the confrontation taking place on Route 2 by Ferry Road. Folk country duo Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have announced a new album, Woodland, due out on August 23 on the pair’s Acony Records. This is a follow-up to their Grammy-winning 2020 covers album, All The Good Times (Are Past & Gone). Woodland is Welch’s first album of original material since 2011’s The Harrow & the Harvest, and Rawlings’ first since 2017’s Poor David’s Almanack. Welch and Rawlings shared the first single lifted from their new album, “Empty Trainload of Sky,” while also announcing an extensive U.S. tour that kicks off on July 23 in South Burlington, Vermont, and finishes up on December 5 in Port Chester, New York.
Camp Ta-Kum-Ta celebrates 40 years of providing care and connection for children with cancer
Camp Ta-Kum-Ta first opened its cabin doors in the summer of 1984, welcoming children who were fighting cancer and their families — at no cost.
