Jelly Belly to Close North Chicago Plant
The Jelly Belly plant in North Chicago is set to close in October, with the parent company, Ferrara Candy, planning to move production to a different facility. The closure will impact 66 jobs, and the company aims to move these employees to other facilities in the Chicago area, reported the Chicago Sun-Times. Ferrara Candy acquired the jelly bean maker in 2023.
Wisconsin fugitive wanted for 30 years arrested in West Des Moines
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) — A fugitive wanted for three decades out of Wisconsin was captured in West Des Moines last week. West Des Moines Police arrested George Hartleroad on June 26. He was homeless and living near the Valley Junction area. Court records show officers stopped him for having no rear reflector on his bicycle.

A longtime vacancy in the US District Court for the eastern District of Wisconsin may soon be filled by an attorney based in Green Bay. This morning, President Biden announced plans to nominate personal injury attorney Byron Browning Conway to the position. The vacancy was created in 2019 by the retirement of Judge William C. Greisbach pending Senate approval. Both Senator Tammy Baldwin and Senator Ron Johnson recommended Conway, along with one other attorney for the job last summer. The decision to nominate Conway comes more than a year after the President decided not to renominate Milwaukee Circuit Court Judge William Pocan after Johnson blocked Pocan’s nomination. Full Story.
