DelGrosso's Amusement Park celebrates the 100th birthday of its carousel
Thursday is National Carousel Day. DelGrosso’s Amusement Park in Tipton, near Altoona, is celebrating the day and the 100th anniversary of its own carousel. The Herschell-Spillman Carousel is one of the first sights guests see entering DelGrosso’s Park. The “Wurlitzer Band Organ” plays big band music from paper scrolls as 36 hand-carved and hand-painted horses rise and fall.

Mary Elizabeth “Bess” Hoffman, 71, of Mount Union, fell asleep in the Lord Thursday, July 25, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The Friends of the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library presented checks totaling $9,300 to HAPL Library Director Kevin Yoder (center) at the June 17 meeting of the library’s board of directors. The Friends hold used book sales, a trivia party, maintain a used bookstore at the library and hold other events to raise money for the library. Plans unveiled for proposed nursing space
Juniata College is proposing a new nursing program that will bring with it an on-campus healthcare facility for the public. The college held a public meeting Wednesday during which they outlined plans to transform the corner of 17th and Moore streets with construction of what Juniata officials are calling a “Gateway Center Project” that would provide space to launch a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program.
