BROCKTON - Summer is underway in Brockton as students and teachers are enjoying a much-needed break from school. While many kids are participating in community and school-sponsored summer camp programs, the upcoming school year is slowly approaching.
Teachers, students and parents will soon start preparing for next school year, as a new interim superintendent takes her seat for the next year or two.
Here are the important dates to know before going into the 2024-2025 school year, from the first day of school to the last and every day off in between.
First day of school in Brockton
Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, marks the official first day of school for all Brockton students from first grade to 12th grade, following Labor Day on Monday and Tuesday's Election Day for the state primary election, when all staff are due to report.
Kindergarten and Pre-K students' first day of school will be one week later on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Breaks and vacations
The following days and weeks are scheduled holiday vacations with no school for Brockton Public Schools:
- Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024 - Friday, Nov. 29, 2024: Thanksgiving/November break
- Monday, Dec. 23, 2024 - Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025: Winter break
- Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 - Friday, Feb. 21, 2025: February break
- Monday, April 21, 2025 - Friday, April 25, 2025: April break

Holidays: No school
The following days are holidays when students and staff have the day off, with the exception of Election Day when only staff are expected to be in school.

Graduations and last days of school
Graduation for Edison Day Academy, Brockton Virtual Learning Academy and Brockton Therapeutic Day School will be Thursday, June 6, 2025. The following day will be Brockton High School graduation on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Graduation for Edison Evening Academy will be held on Thursday July 10, 2025.
Wednesday, June 18, 2025 will be the last day of school for all Brockton schools. The following week after the Juneteenth (June 19) holiday between June 20 and June 26 will be reserved for additional make-up school days in the event school is cancelled throughout the year.
