Highlighting the best: Patriot Ledger/Enterprise 2024 Softball All-Scholastics

The South Shore and Brockton area's softball diamonds were full of stars this spring.

Zero local teams emerged from the MIAA postseason with a state title, but many had memorable moments in the chase. Abington finished 19-2 on the season, Notre Dame Academy rattled off consecutive tournament upsets as the No. 21 seed in Division 2 and Archbishop Williams took home its first Central Catholic League pennant in nearly two decades.

As far as personal accolades go, multiple pitchers (such as Silver Lake's Delaney Moquin, Pembroke's Kelly McGee, Notre Dame Academy's Shannon MacLeod, Abington's Elsie Testa and Archbishop Williams' Jill Ondrick) stacked eye-popping strikeout totals amidst dominant campaigns in the circle.

Plenty of trusty power hitters, though, stepped in the batter's box and responded with a vengeance.

Here's a final salute to the standouts of the 2024 softball season.

Abington

Senior catcher hit for a .506 average in 85 at-bats this season. ... Hit two home runs, six doubles, 20 RBIs and struck out just four times. ... Recorded a hit in 21 of 23 games. ... Three-time South Shore League All-Star led Abington (21-2) to the Division 4 Elite Eight. ... Will attend UMass Amherst. ... Freshman shortstop hit .694 with 33 RBI and 15 extra-base hits for the Vikings (11-10). ... Helped South Shore Tech qualify for the Div. 3 state tournament. ... Went 5-for-5 with 6 RBIs in a win over Bristol Aggie.

Senior third baseman hit .614 with 21 RBIs and 11 extra-base hits for the Vikings (11-10). ... Repeat All-Scholastic selection. ... Helped Vikings qualify for the Div. 3 state tournament.

Senior center fielder hit .470 with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and 34 runs. ... Surpassed 100 career hits this season. ... Finishes with 19 career homers. ... SOPHIA CROWLEY

Milton Academy

Sophomore first baseman/center fielder volunteered to play catcher this year. ... Hit .511 with 2 home runs, 19 RBIs, 12 walks and an .851 slugging percentage. ... Stole 12 bases this year. ... Struck out four times and was intentionally walked three times this season. ... Coach R.J. Maturo described her as a "very dangerous hitter."

GABBY DIAUTE

Senior right fielder hit .551 with two home runs, 30 RBIs, eight doubles, four triples and 27 runs scored. ... Maintained a .627 on-base percentage. ... Collected her 100th career hit this season, and finished her career with 121. ... Has a career batting average of .482. ... Freshman shortstop hit .516 with 3 home runs, 23 RBIs, 35 runs and 23 stolen bases in a much-improved season for the Wildcats (11-12). ... Had a .862 slugging percentage. ... Two-time league All-Star. ... Said coach Vanessa Haen described her as the "foundation of the team." ... Said Haen, "Her approach at the plate and her ability to run the bases is unmatched. Freshman catcher maintained a .413 batting average, hit 2 home runs and drove in 18 RBIs for the Sachems (13-6), who earned the No. 12 seed in the Division 2 bracket. ... Led Middleboro with team-highs in slugging (.667), on-base percentage (.493), OPS (1.160), hits (26), doubles (6) and triples (2), while striking out just five times in 73 plate appearances.

Sophomore pitcher had a 0.87 ERA with 189 strikeouts in 152 innings and 22 starts. ... Tossed her first career no-hitter vs. Pembroke. ...
