BROCKTON — A 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting late Wednesday night, officials said.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at 27 Vesey St. at about 11:51 p.m. Wednesday.

Police radio transmissions stated that there were masked men dressed in all black clothing and that eight shots had been fired, Enterprise news partner WCVB reported . On Thursday, bullet holes and broken blinds were visible in a first-floor window.

The victim, who was found in the backyard, was identified as Romualdy Pierre-Charles, 22. He lived at the house with his parents and two adult siblings, WCVB reported.

"We go to the same church. I call him my son," the victim's cousin, Rosenide Pierre-Charles, told WCVB.

Neighbors told WCVB they saw a black sedan flee the scene of the shooting.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which remains under investigation. The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said that the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence.

Brockton police referred The Enterprise to the DA's office.
