    22-year-old fatally shot; Brockton carnival: 5 top stories last week

    BROCKTON − A 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting on Vesey Street. Police radio transmissions stated that there were masked men dressed in all black clothing and that eight shots had been fired.

    A Brockton man was held without bail after being arraigned on charges that he fatally stabbed a Fall River man inside a city park. Johnny Richmond, 36, of Brockton, pleaded not guilty in Brockton District Court to a charge of murder.

    Whitman-Hanson graduate Meghan Ford has landed a college football coaching job. Ford says that she enjoys college football and hopes to make a coaching career at that level. However, making it to the NFL wouldn’t be so bad, either.

    One of New England’s largest carnivals will be stopping in Brockton with thrilling rides, carnival games and delicious fried foods.

    A 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting late Wednesday night, family members told WCVB. Police responded to a report of a shooting at 27 Vesey St. just before 12 a.m. Wednesday. Police radio transmissions stated that there were masked men dressed in all black clothing and that eight shots had been fired, Enterprise news partner WCVB reported . On Thursday, bullet holes and broken blinds were visible in a first-floor window.

    Fall River man, 39, killed in Brockton stabbing; suspect arrested

    A Fall River man was fatally stabbed inside a park in Brockton on Saturday evening, officials said. Brockton police received several 911 calls for a report of a stabbing inside Finnegan Park, at the corner of Crescent and Montello streets, about 6:13 p.m. "Upon arrival, Brockton police officers located a male victim, and he was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries," the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said in a written statement.

    A court-appointed watchdog warned of "nursing gaps" at Good Samaritan Medical Center as Brockton Hospital employees return to that facility. When Steward Health Care declared bankruptcy and put their hospitals up for sale , the judge chose Suzanne Koenig as "patient care ombudsman." Her job is to inspect the facilities and flag dangers to patients. Koenig issued her report on Tuesday. Accompanied by a nurse, she visited 15 hospitals in Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.
