BRODHEAD, Wis.—Brodhead’s Alecia Dahl put the Rock Valley Conference on notice her freshman season with a stellar output of nearly 11 points per game on a 50.6 shooting percentage.

She added 101 rebounds and 60 assists while being a defensive machine with 54 steals and 12 blocks.

Dahl took it up to another level her sophomore year, and the Rock Valley Conference Rock Division recognized her outstanding season by naming her the conference’s Player of the Year.

The 5-foot-6 guard was second in the RVCRD in points per game (18.9) and in rebounds per game (8.0) as she totaled 215 total boards.

Dahl helped the Cardinals finish third in the conference at 10-5 and guided them to a regional championship. She shot 51% from the field and was 32-for-95 (33.7%) on 3-pointers. She finished third in the conference with 3.4 assists per game, ending with 92 total, and second in steals with 92.

Dahl was accompanied on the Rock Valley Conference Rock Division’s First Team with Beloit Turner’s Portia Segerstrom, Evansville senior Ava Brandenburg, Edgerton freshman Claudia Jenny and Edgerton senior Nickie Shaw.

Segerstrom helped the Trojans tear through the regular season to end 18-6, finish second in the Rock Valley Rock Division at 11-4 and win more games than any other Trojans’ squad has in over 21 years.

The 5-foot-4 point guard averaged 3.7 assists per game and was second in the conference with 93 total assists. A stout defender on a fast tempoed and defense-first minded Turner squad, Segerstrom paced the league with 81 steals. She was second on the team with 10.2 ppg.

Edgerton, which was ranked in the Division 3 top ten by Wissports.com for much of the season, continued its dominance of the conference by getting two more players on the Second Team.

The Crimson Tide, which went undefeated in the Rock Valley Rock and fell in the sectional semifinals to Madison Edgewood, had sophomores Gracee Langer and Marti Rebman added as second teamers. Other members of the Second Team included Turner’s Mariya Babilius, Brodhead’s Addison Yates and Evansville’ Brooklyn Maves.

Babilius had the highest 3-point shooting percentage in the conference among players with 100 or more attempts as she hit 37.7% (69-183). The 5-foot-7 senior guard, who paced the Trojans with 12.3 ppg, broke Jenn Njoo’s 3-point single-season record of 57 by pouring in 69. She also owns the single-game record after hitting eight treys against Delavan-Darien on Feb. 3.

Babilius also grabbed 3.1 rebounds per game, dished out 41 assists and provided 43 steals and 11 blocks.

Yates was an offensive spark with Dahl, and she ended third in the Rock Valley Rock with 16.7 points per game and shot 41.4% from the field. She was 33% on 3-pointers (35-106) and finished 69.2% from the charity stripe (101-146).

The 5-foot-9 senior guard often used her length to clog up passing lanes and rack up deflections. Yates snatched 149 total boards (5.5 per game) and provided 70 assists while adding 44 steals and eight blocks.

The Rock Valley Rock Division honorable mention list included the following players: Turner sophomores Jayla Hodges and Kaylee Kramer, Brodhead junior Makenna Schooff and senior Onnikah Williams, Clinton seniors Ava Mueller and Hannah Hahn, Edgerton senior Jillian Scharlau, Evansville seniors Kennedy Dobbs and Emma Vogl and Big Foot freshman Leah Paulsen and senior Addie Larson.
