    Brodhead's Kalena Riemer, Big Foot's Kaden Rambatt place first at indoor track state championships

    WHITEWATER, Wis. — Kalena Riemer walked away with a state medal after she won the girls 400-meter race at the Wisconsin State Indoor Track and Field Championships at the campus of UW-Whitewater on Saturday.

    The Brodhead senior finished in a time of 1 minute, 32 seconds to beat out Ladysmith’s Marika Gago by .19 seconds.

    Brodhead/Juda’s girls finished third as a team with 23 points, and they did it while contending with much bigger schools such as Mequon Homestead (first, 42 points), Wisconsin Lutheran (second, 36) and Verona (fourth, 20).

    Big Foot’s Kaden Rambatt had the top pole vault of the day, clearing 15 feet, 6 inches.

    Brodhead/Juda’s Stella Arn took fifth in the finals of the 60-meter dash (7.90), while Riemer also took seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:23.25. Senior Addison Yates tied for second in the girls high jump, clearing 5 feet, 2 inches.

    • PROSPECT GIRLS RELAY: Jordan Dimke had yet another strong performance for the Hononegah girls track and field team as in Prospect on Friday.

    Dimke won the high jump with a distance of 1.67 meters, a personal record for the sophomore, and finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.74 seconds.

    The Indians took seventh in the meet after scoring 40 points, and Naperville Central placed first with 136.

    Hononegah had a second event win in the 4x800 relay, where the team of Allyson Niedfeldt, Dimke, Lauren Frake and Kylie Simpson finished first in 10:02.27. The 4x100 relay of Hailey Underwood, Ashlyn Richter, Ava Schaumbrug and Sophia Hedges placed sixth (53.45).

    In the field events, Amelia Bronnimann took third in the pole vault with a PR of 2.82 while teammate Emma Krenz finished fifth (2.67). Hedges grabbed third in the long jump (5.10).

    • NORM ARMSTRONG INVITATIONAL: The Hononegah boys track and field team finished 20th in the 31-team invite hosted at Belleville West High School on Saturday.

    Junior Jacob Benson finished first in the shot put with a distance of 16.68 meters, a personal record. Jake McLarty added a top-ten finish for the Indians in the field events by placing eighth in the pole vault (3.86).

    Coen Lee finished eighth in the 300 hurdles (41.63) and Landon Samuelson was ninth in the 3200 (9:49.46).

    • SVHS OPEN: Sophomore Aiden Squires had a pair of top-three finishes at Stillman Valley, where the South Beloit placed fifth as a team with 20 points.

    The hosting Cardinals won the five-team meet with 163 points.

    Squires placed second in the 400 meters (57.06) and third in the 200 (25.27), where teammate Javonte Carter was fourth (25.35) and Lester Bradford was 8th (27.83).

    Carter also finished third in the 110 hurdles (18.64). Jordge Marquez was fourth in the 800 (2:34.61) and Marcos Manuel was ninth (2:43.79).

    Daniel Winterland was ninth in the shot put (10.22) and eighth in the discus (25.61).

    The girls did not compete as a team, but Abigail Trojniar was 11th in the shot put (7.04) and seventh in the discus (19.40).
