    Hosting Cardinals shine at Brodhead/Juda triple dual meet

    BRODHEAD, Wis.—The Brodhead/Juda track and field team showed out on its home turf as both the girls and boys team took first place in a triple dual meet with Evansville and Beloit Turner.

    The Blue Devils’ boys took second (145) and the Trojans third (125) behind the Cardinals’ 163 points. On the girls’ side, The Cardinals scored 188 and were followed by Turner (150) and Evansville (90).

    On the boys’ side, the Cardinals got a first-place from Gavin Pinnow in the 400 meters (53.35), and the senior placed second in the high jump (6-feet) behind his brother Tegan (6’ 0).

    Nathan Engen had three event wins after he placed first in the 110 hurdles (17.81) the 300 hurdles (43.28) and the triple jump (40’ 0).

    Brodhead/Juda earned a win in the relays with its 4x800 team of Marcus McIntyre, Jorge Villalva, Anton Pfeifer and Gauge Jorgenson placing first (9:26.0). Gunner Boegli was second in the 100 (11.59) with Eric Woodward, who was second in the 200 (23.63), finishing behind him in third (11.66). Nolan Bump was second in the 110 hurdles (18.59).

    The Trojans’ boys got three first-place finishes out of senior Elijah Terrell, who won the 100 (11.16), the 200 (22.35) and the long jump (21’ 8). Thomas Peters won both the 1600 (4:57.00) and the 3200 (11:27.00).

    Turner also got wins from the 4x100 relay (46.53), which featured Trevor Noack, Amzi Fruin, Kaden Cook and Noah Amosa, and Deaken Krause, who won the shot put (41’ 5).

    Brodhead/Juda’s girls shined in the track events as Stella Arn had a win in the 100 (12.47) and the 200 (26.20) while Kalena Riemer, fresh off winning the 400 at the WIAA indoor track and field state championships, placed first in the 400 (59.90) and the 800 (2:30.00).

    Addison Yates swept the hurdle events with a victory in the 100 (16.37) and 300 (49.95).

    The Cardinals won three of the four relays: 4x200 team of Arn, Brenley Jones, Elliana Shank and Chesney Walker (1:54.86), 4x400 team of Riemer, Taiya Hawkins, Olivia Harwig and Madi Brown (4:37.60) and the 4x800 team of Madi Arnold, Brown, Hartwig and Danica Dewrow (11:39.00).

    Onni Williams had a duo of wins with her first-place finish in the shot put (36’ 0) and the discus (89’3), where teammate Brynn Riesterer placed second (88’ 4). Yates made it four total wins on the day with victories in the high jump (5’ 0) and long jump (16’ 4.75) while Jones placed first in the triple jump (32’ 5).

    Senior Caitlin Wirth had two wins for Turner in the track events by placing first in the 1600 (5:50.00) and the 3200 (12:34.00). The 4x100 relay squad of Ashi’ya House, Nevayah House, Cherish Smith and Harmony Moore-Ewing finished first (53.08).

    In field events, Navana Terrell took second in the shot put (35’ 11) and Brijit Mosher was second in the triple jump (32’ 0.25) and the high jump (4’ 8).

    The Trojans’ other second-place finishes include: Cherish Smith in the 200 (28.08), Bronwyn Sherlund in the 100 hurdles (17.13) and 300 (52.47).
