Brodhead/Juda baseball team earns top awards in RVC Rock Division

This year’s Brodhead/Juda baseball team won a league championship for the first time since 1989 after winning the RVC Rock title, and the Cardinals were rewarded with their fair share of postseason awards.

Brodhead/Juda catcher Gabe Bockhop was named the Rock Valley Conference Rock Division’s player of the year, while Aaron Guilbault earned coach of the year recognition.

The Cardinal claimed the outright title with a 10-5 conference record while Clinton and Beloit Turner went 9-6 on the season to finish in a tie for second.

Guilbault’s team had two more first-team selections: senior Ryan Searls as an infielder and senior Evan Senobe as the conference’s utility all-conference pick.

The Cougars, who reached a regional championship game for the first time in 12 years, had two players make first-team all-conference: junior Gavin Wesling as an infielder and senior Collin Gill as an outfielder.

Turner also put two players on the league’s first-team roster. They were senior Andy Buckley as a pitcher and junior Brayden Ward as an outfielder.

The Rock Division’s pitcher of the year was Alex Karnes of Evansville, the Blue Devils’ lone first-team selection.

Rounding out the first team were two players from Edgerton, junior infielder Jack Fox and senior outfielder Ethan Stengel, and one from Walworth Big Foot, junior infielder Evan Henningfeld.
