Yankees might have a concern about potential trade target
Jazz Chisholm has been linked heavily to the New York Yankees in recent weeks, especially given the fact that the Miami Marlins are very much out of the playoff race. While most teams sit on the fence of being in the Wild Card picture, it’s clear that they will be selling ahead of the July deadline, and Chisholm is universally expected to be dealt. With a 105 wRC+ and 13 home runs on the season, the lefty-swinging outfielder has returned to playing some second base to audition for teams who want to cast him in that infield role.

Yankees' Luis Gil: Fans six in no-decision
Gil came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out six. After a rough stretch in late June and early July, Gil has turned things around and given up just one run in each of his last three outings while delivering a 22:2 K:BB over 17.2 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander's stumble came after he topped 100 pitches for the first time June 14 against the Red Sox, so expect the Yankees to keep a close eye on his workload the rest of the way -- his 107.1 innings in 2024 is already closing in on the career-high 108.2 innings he threw across three levels in 2021. Gil lines up to make his next start on the road early next week in Philadelphia.

Today on Pinstripe Alley - 7/24/24
The Yankees have been stymied by the Mets in all three of their games so far, though their closest contest came last night. It ended in an unpredictable fashion, with Juan Soto and Aaron Judge actually getting to bat with the game up for grabs in the ninth — sadly, they couldn’t come through and the game ended in a 3-2 loss. They’ve got one last shot to avoid a season sweep at the hands of their crosstown rivals, perhaps this is the time that they finally put all the pieces together.
