After the Yankees fell in a thrilling 10-inning game against the Orioles in the Bronx on Wednesday night, Keith conceded that the Bombers have some clear problems on the roster that are going to desperately need fixing by the trade deadline.

One of those issues is at catcher, as Jose Trevino again struggled to throw out runners, including sailing a throw into left field when Cedric Mullins stole third base, allowing Mullins to score the run that ultimately decided the game.

“Jose Trevino has become a problem,” Keith said. “It’s obvious that they’re going on you.”

The other problem lies in the bullpen, as Clay Holmes had another off night as he continues to struggle in recent appearances, and nearly no other reliever can be counted on to get strikeouts and put up zeroes consistently in late and close games.

“It doesn’t matter who is coming out of the bullpen. The Yankees bullpen is weak,” Keith said. “We’re praying for guys to get outs. We’re praying for guys to throw strikes. We’re praying for luck, and it’s not good enough.

“The Yankees have some holes, they have some flaws, and that’s okay. The trade deadline isn’t until July 30, and I think they’re gonna do a lot to improve this team.”
