BT: Yankees are 'not very good,' too reliant on Aaron Judge and Juan Soto

The Yankees dropped another series after the bats were quiet in a 3-1 loss to the Braves on Sunday, and have lost seven of their last 10 after rolling out to the best start in baseball.

To add injury to insult, Giancarlo Stanton and his red-hot bat are heading to the IL, expected to miss a month with a hamstring strain, while top prospect Jasson Dominguez is not an option to take Stanton’s place as he is nursing an oblique strain.

With the injuries mounting and concerns arising both in the lineup and within the pitching staff, BT says fans need to face the reality that the team is regressing, and may simply not be as good as many thought through the first two-plus months of the season.

“They have two players who can hit. Well, two and a half with Volpe,” BT said. “The Yankees have gone from having an abundance of options…Stanton is gone for a month, Dominguez is gone for two months…they have problems.”

BT has big concerns about the Yankee offense, and says Brian Cashman will have to be aggressive as ever before the trade deadline if they are going to have a shot at winning the World Series.

“I’m not overreacting. The Yankees have two thunderous sticks, and that’s pretty much it,” BT said. “If Judge doesn’t go deep or Soto doesn’t do something, the Yankees aren’t doing much.

“Find me a championship team that needs a new first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, address the catching situation, find a new closer, and find one more high-leverage, octane arm…the Yankees have some real issues. I’m not afraid to say it, the Yankees are not very good.”
