Giancarlo Stanton injury: Yankees provide update on slugger's hamstring

New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton seems to be making progress from a hamstring injury that landed him on the 10-day injured list last week.

Ahead of Tuesday night's 5-4 loss against the Cincinnati Reds, manager Aaron Boone provided a slight update on the progress Stanton is making.

Boone mentioned Stanton did some light running and throwing Monday. Not that the throwing portion is all that vital considering Stanton is a full-time designated hitter.

“We’ll see,” Boone said. “We’ll just see how the next week, 10 days go, but it seems like he’s moving in the right direction.”

In terms of the four-week timeline Stanton gave himself almost immediately after the injury occurred, Boone agreed that's the hope.

"I think it’s possible, again we’ll see how he does,” Boone said. “I actually just spoke to him and I think he’s encouraged and it’s gone kinda how he expected so far in a good way."

Stanton's absence is proving to be a vital one for the Yankees, who haven't gotten much out of the starting lineup save for Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.
