NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 12-year-old boy and his 13-year-old friend were inside a Bronx McDonald’s on Saturday night when they were injured in a targeted shooting.

It happened at about 9:50 p.m. at the McDonald’s located at 2516 White Plains Rd., near Mace Avenue, in the Allerton section of the Bronx, police said.

Well-placed sources told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880 that the boys were targeted. They were sitting at a table inside the McDonald’s at the time of the shooting, sources said.

The 12-year-old was shot in his left thigh and back, while the 13-year-old was shot in his left leg, according to officials. The victims were transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and are expected to survive.

Police have not released a description of the gunman, who ran from the scene after the shots rung out. There have been no arrests.

The McDonald's was closed on Sunday morning, excluding the drive-through, as officers combed through the interior for evidence.

Raúl lives in the neighborhood and told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880 that he’s horrified by the violence.

“I think it’s horrible. And I think that it’s unfettered violence, but that’s the way New York City is at the moment,” he said. “You don’t want to go to the McDonald’s where someone got shot at.”

The shooting took place in the city’s 44th Precinct, which according to the most recent NYPD data , has seen a 22% dip in gun violence this year when compared to the first half of 2023.
