Moose: Brian Cashman has no choice but to go all in at trade deadline

Marc Malusis expressed his difficulty in believing in these Yankees as we enter the All-Star break, but despite that lack of belief, he says the only choice for Brian Cashman at the trade deadline is to go all in and try to make a push for a title.

“He’s got no choice. This season for the Yankees is an all-in year,” Moose said.

“They are not moving Soto…especially with the money they charge at Yankee Stadium and the expectations coming into the year. But when you know definitely that you have Soto for this season and that’s it…Brian Cashman, the message to him is clear. You have no other choice but to strengthen this team as best you can and try to get this team across the finish line.”

Cashman’s strategy in recent years has been to get into the playoffs healthy and hope the parity of October baseball falls in the Bombers’ favor. But Moose is tired of that mindset, and wants to see the Yanks make the kind of aggressive moves that would make them a clear favorite to win a pennant, and remove as much of that parity as possible.

So, Cashman needs to go out and be aggressive and work to fill every last need on the roster.

“Being a playoff team and crossing your fingers and hoping for the best is one thing,” Moose said. “Being a playoff team and being a force to be reckoned with is completely different. I hate this nonsense you get in today’s day and age of baseball, and you bring up the Rangers and Diamondbacks…that doesn’t ring true every single year.

“Brian Cashman and the Yankees have no other choice…this general manager and this front office has to do everything they can to drag this team across the finish line…because what does this Yankee team look like if they lose Soto in the offseason?”
