The NYC Sheriff’s Office made a major seizure of illegal cannabis and more at two locations Tuesday night in the Bronx. Pallets of illegal cannabis and psychedelic mushroom products were found behind the back door a deli located on East Tremont Avenue. The NYC Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the deli was also being used as an illegal cannabis warehouse. City officials allege that the bodega was funneling those drugs the community. Across two locations in Throgs Neck, officers seized over 170 pounds of illegal products, varying from vapes to edibles. "This seizure is more than $1 million of illegal products," said Mayor Eric Adams. "We had two locations in close proximity, so it's clear that they are distributing throughout this entire area." The NYC Sheriff's Office says that there were nine arrests made overall and that many of the packaged products looked similar to popular candy - which officials say was aimed at attracting kids. They thanked the community for making a complaint that alerted them to this operation. "Of course this is a shock, having it so close to the church, a residential neighborhood," said one local neighbor. "So we fear for the safety of the people, but we're excited that they got found out and shut down." Two of the nine men were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. "
