    Man shot in face at Bronx NYCHA complex: police

    BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man was critically injured when he was shot in the face at a Bronx NYCHA complex on the Fourth of July, according to authorities.

    Police received a call for aid at the Fort Independence Street-Heath Avenue houses just before 10 p.m. An unknown assailant fired a gun, hitting the 45-year-old victim, authorities said.

    The victim was struck in the face and right shoulder. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition, police said.

    The unknown assailant fled the scene and remains at large.

    Police released surveillance footage showing a man, believed to be the suspect, entering a building. No arrests have been made, police said.
