Four people were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly dealing fentanyl at a home near a Passamaquoddy community center in Indian Township.

Alex Tomah Jr., 22, Alex Tomah Sr., 49, and Taylor Smiley, 25, all of Indian Township, and Jerkeir Grant, 26, of Bronx, New York, were charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, the Maine Department of Public Safety and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said in a joint news release.

The charges were aggravated because of the residence’s proximity to the Indian Township Community Center which is a designated Safe Zone.

MDEA investigators worked with investigators from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Township Police making purchases of fentanyl from a residence on Route 1 in Indian Township.

Using a search warrant, the Maine State Police Tactical Team raided the home just after midnight on Wednesday morning, Police detained six people and allegedly found evidence of drug trafficking and drug use, along with marked money used by investigators in their controlled purchases.

Through a follow-up investigation, police concluded that the people in the house probably flushed a significant amount of drugs down a toilet during the raid.
