Gio starting to worry Yankees are destined for early playoff exit, or worse

The Yankees have the second-worst record in baseball over their last 29 games, and as this funk stretches further and further through the summer, Gio’s concern grows that the lights could be out in the Bronx once again come October.

“I am starting to get really, really nervous about us not having a lot - if any at all - Yankee playoff baseball,” Gio said. “I know it seems crazy for them not to make the playoffs at this point, but they are just bad.

“They have too many guys who do nothing for this team. From Gleyber Torres to DJ LeMahieu, Alex Verdugo, who is like oh for his last 10,000.”

The bats outside of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto have been virtually non-existent for the past six weeks, and the starting rotation has plummeted outside of Gerrit Cole, who is looking closer and closer to his elite self with each start since his return from injury. With so many issues plaguing the roster, Gio is wondering how exactly this team will be able to turn things around.

“I can’t sit here and say that the Yankees can’t figure it out,” Gio said. “But find me the way that they become elite again like we thought they might be at the beginning of the season. You can’t.”
