The Department of Buildings ordered a full demolition of the Hunts Point warehouse that went up in flames on Tiffany Street Tuesday morning. Today, a crew was outside the building at 540 Tiffany St. painting wooden boards currently blocking the building. Authorities say they can’t confirm a demolition timeline just yet. But we're told they’re mitigating the risk of injuries by ordering the warehouse to be demolished, issuing a work without permit violation, and a partial vacate order for the driveway right next door. This all comes after the building caught on fire Tuesday morning — lighting the sky orange, filling the air with smoke, and leaving three firefighters hospitalized, luckily with just minor injuries. A spokesperson from the DOB says the building’s owner is working to hire a demolition crew. If he fails to follow their order, the city will hire a demolition crew themselves. "
