Aaron Judge puts pressure on Yankees front office ahead of 2024 MLB Trade Deadline

The 2024 MLB Trade Deadline is officially here. Well, it’s actually less than seven hours away (at the time of this publishing). But there are still plenty of moves for contenders leaguewide could–and possibly should–make to either bolster their chances at winning a World Series or turn a new leaf and add young talent.

One of those that fit the former is the New York Yankees, who, despite having a porous last six weeks, are a-half game out of the AL East lead and three games out for the best record in baseball.

After clubbing his MLB-most 38th and 39th home runs of the season on Monday, Yankees captain Aaron Jud ge sent a subtle message to the front office after their 14-4 rout over the Philadelphia Phillies.

“Other teams are making moves,” he said. , according to beat writer Max Goodman of NJ.com. “So hopefully we start making moves too. We’ll see.”

The Yankees already made one sizable move Saturday, acquiring Jazz Chisholm from the Miami Marlins in exchange for prospects Jared Serna , Agustin Ramirez and Abraham Ramirez.

They still have plenty of holes they need to address. Their rotation has MLB’s third-worst ERA and second-worst FIP over the last two months; their bullpen has fallen apart, where they likely need two impact relievers (specifically swing-and-miss ones) to take pressure off Luke Weaver and Clay Holmes in the back-end; New York needs another source of consistent power outside of Juan Soto and Judge, even though Austin Wells and Ben Rice have been rock solid at the dish.

The pressure is on for Brian Cashman, but not from the outside (fans)–instead from the team’s $300 million superstar who’s arguably the best hitter in the sport.

To echo Judge, “we’ll see” whether or not those moves could be executed for the betterment of the organization. Tick tock.
