New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres was removed from Friday night's game early against the Toronto Blue Jays, seemingly after a baserunning lapse.

Though the reason is initially unclear, Torres was removed from the game when the Yankees took the field in the top of the fourth inning.

Torres was replaced by Oswaldo Cabrera. He hit a single off the left field wall in the bottom of the second inning, though it should have been a double, but he took his time admiring the hit.

Immediately after, Torres was thrown out trying to score from first base on Anthony Volpe's double.

After Torres was thrown out, an exchange between manager Aaron Boone and the 27-year-old was shown on the YES broadcast.

Entering a contract year, Torres is hitting .231 with 10 home runs, 42 RBI and a career-low .663 OPS. Boone will meet with the media following the game.
