Yankees reveal probable starters for doubleheader vs. Angels

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels will attempt to play a doubleheader Wednesday after Tuesday night's game was postponed.

Due to the remnants of Hurricane Debby sweeping up the East Coast and into the Northeast, the Yankees were forced to postpone Tuesday's series opener with the Angels due to inclement weather.

The Yankees announced that Tuesday's game will be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Wednesday with first pitch set for 4:05 p.m. ET.

Getting the ball in the first game of the doubleheader is rookie Luis Gil. After a brilliant start to the season with a 2.03 ERA through his first 14 starts, Gil has come back down to Earth a bit.

The sensational rookie has a 6.06 ERA over his last seven starts but a 2.35 ERA over his last four starts so he's beginning to regain his form.

Getting the start during the second game of the doubleheader will be another rookie in the form of Will Warren, who made his debut last week against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 pitching prospect for the Yankees, according to MLB Pipeline , put together a decent outing in his MLB debut last week.

Warren went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs, four hits and two walks while striking out six. Going into the sixth inning against the best team in baseball should be considered a solid start, especially for an MLB debut.

Given the storm is still making its way up the coast, there is risk that the game is again postponed due to inclement weather.
