Do You Know These 4 Upstate New York Baseball Stars? You Should!
There are many legendary baseball players who are buried in the Empire State. Most of these are buried in New York City, Westchester County, or Long Island. I once wrote a book about famous people buried in New York, and traveled to the graves of most of these player. It was quite a revealing journey. For example, perhaps the most visited sports grave in America is that of Babe Ruth. He is buried in Hawthorne, NY (Westchester County) in Gate of Heaven cemetery. Ruth's grave is quite imposing depicting a large statue of Jesus Christ with his arms around two small boys dressed up to play baseball. I have been to Ruth's grave twice. Each time I found the grave covered with trinkets, good luck charms, baseballs, bats and balls, Yankee memorabilia, personal messages, and more. All of which is gathered up and archived by the cemetery. His grave shows signs of having been visited frequently by fans.

This cocktail competition is pouring one out for Flaco the owl
Flaco the owl was one of those stories that captured the heart of New York. In February of 2023, the Eurasian eagle owl escaped from Central Park Zoo. Who shredded open his mesh enclosure is still a mystery. Because it’s particularly hard to capture a winged creature, the zoo and all of New York kept tabs on the freed bird, catching sights of his 6-foot wingspan flying across Central Park and snapping pictures of him perched on AC units. Unfortunately, just a little over a year later, the majestic owl took his last flight and died after striking a building on the Upper West Side. To commemorate his tale, a handful of bars across New York are pouring one out to honor the majestic beast.
The Yankees need to make a big push for this perfect infield trade target
With the Rays dealing away Randy Arozarena, it’s an indication that players are on the trade block, and the Yankees need to be on the phone calling for some of their available players. While Isaac Paredes is the obvious target because they need a third baseman, his price tag might be too much for the Yankees to pursue. They need multiple pieces at the deadline for them to fix up their roster, and Brandon Lowe is the exact kind of player they need to bolster the middle of their lineup.
